Custom Lintels

If you’re not familiar with lintels, Harvey Steel Lintels provide assistance with specifying the appropriate lintel for your application. All you need to do is send us your drawings (paper, .DWG, .PDF or standard image files) using the form below and Harvey Steel Lintels will calculate the loads on each lintel; provide a lintel schedule to suit your design, and quote for the work... Free of charge.

To do this you will need to provide the following information:

• Full height elevations showing all the lintels
• Cross section dimensions of the wall (cavity etc)
• The type of brick or block used for the wall
• Plans showing floor joist and roof truss locations
• All this information is required to calculate the loads that are applied to the lintels.

What is possible

Regardless of how big or small your project is, Harvey Steel Lintels frequently design a range of custom lintels such as arched lintels, curved lintels, bay window lintels, roller shutters lintels, lintels with adhered bricks, feature brick lintels and more! They have designed lintels for spans of over 15meters in the past, and undertake numerous lintel design tasks where the lintels are coordinated with structural steel elements, working with both the architects and the engineers as required.

If you already have a lintel schedule we can price it in terms of our specifications. Note Harvey Steel Lintels will either require loads to be provided for the lintels or the plans of the building;

If the schedule is in terms of 'duty' ie 'heavy duty' 'medium duty' etc pricing will not be accurately priced since one suppliers 'heavy duty' is anothers 'standard duty'. Best economy is gained from specifying the most suitable lintel for the duty.

Special Design

Harvey Steel Lintels have a dedicated technical department that spends virtually all it's time designing custom lintels. Typically the customer comes up with a masonry design and asks for a way to support it. Harvey Steel Lintels integrate the lintel with the rest of the structure to achieve the designer's intent.

This can involve:

• Bolted connections to attach to surrounding steel frame
• Support posts; visible or concealed
• Modified steel frame to support masonry direct
• Integrated windposts & shutter housings
• Designs to conceal the lintel in the masonry
• A range of tricky shapes, such as arches in circular towers!

AutoCAD Integration

Harvey Steel Lintels have their own in-house design software PEPS-CAMTEK for their manufacturing purposes but also use AutoCAD to design lintels and integrate with your drawings.

All designs  can be supplied as AutoCAD blocks for Architects to integrate directly into their drawings and rapidly check form and fit.

They can even supply blocks in your own layer configuration providing you supply us the information.
